Kailasahar, January 27 (TIWN): Empty Vessel Sounds Much. This old proverb fits the so called education revolution of the state Tripura. No surprise the state, by now, boasts of being a totally literate state with highest literacy state. The horrible state of the education system in the state can be understood if it is said that the poor people too seem to be reluctant to send their children to government schools, here. According to the reports of our correspondents, the Rural Employment Guarantee Act (REGA) workers are also sending their sons and daughters to private schools.

 In Tilakpur primary school (a government school) there are only 19 students with four teachers. To add to that, one kilometer away there is another school named as Kirtantaly Primary School. The situation is worse here. This school has only 17 students with 3 teachers. The two schools are running for nothing. But no one is there in such an interior place of the state to look after the issue as lakhs of rupees are being spent with no fruitful yield. To make a contrast a private school named Bimal Singha Academy is situated 500 meter away from Kirtantali School. And it has strength of nearly four hundred students. People with very little affordability too prefer the private school due to its quality in imparting education.
The state government is fallaciously running behind the quantitative approach of literacy, number of schools and educating all where the qualitative approach has nothing to obtain the attention. And thus the tall claims regarding government’s “Education For All” and very recent “Bidyaloy Chalo” (Go to School) projects stand exposed, if not more
