Tripura celebrates 66th Republic Day: 6 police, 1 fire services personnel receive Presidential medal

AGARTALA, January 26 (TIWN): Along with the whole nation, Tripura celebrates 66th Republic Day today with unfurling of the national flag across the state. Pomp, pageantry and patriotic fervor were in the air Monday as the 66th Republic Day was celebrated across the state with flag hoisting ceremonies, and the military parades, cultural extravaganzas and pledges to work for a better Tripura at Agartala Assam Rifles ground.Like every year the main programme of the 66th Republic Day celebration was held at Agartala AR Ground on Monday with the uniformed police platoon saluting Chief Minister Manik Sarkar during their ceremonial parade. Several wings of the Tripura Police comprising of the TSR battalions, West PS, West Women PS, Traffic Unit and Home guard along with the Assam rifles wing participated in the parade today.

During the programme today Chief Minister Manik Sarkar along with the Chief Secretary G. Kameshwar Rao, DGP K. Nagaraj and other police officers remained present, with the CM Manik Sarkar inspected the colorful parade and later received a grand salute on the dais.

However, at least 7 police personnel of Tripura have been selected for President Medal on the occasion 66th Republic Day celebration today. The medal was awarded in recognition of their meritorious services. The police personnel are: TSR 2nd battalion Assistant Commandant Ramprasad Samuel, Debrata Pal SI of DGP office, Babool Mahajan SI of SB branch at Kanchanpur, Debajit Bhattacherjee SI of west district police super office, Mayajoy Rupani police constable of DSP office at west district and Vidya Kumar Reang of TSR 13 battalion. Besides fire service medal is awarded to Pulin Bihari Das fire officer of Kailasahar North Division.

 Beside in recognition of today’s best parade the first position was taken by the CRPF, second position by BSF whereas the third position was jointly taken by the Assam Rifles and the TSR.

Beside, like every year the Police dog show was exhibited at the A R ground with several investigation processes of the police were also showcased. Several cultural programmes were also staged with the tribals and the non tribals performing at the AR ground today to mark the Republic day celebration.
