AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Amid ongoing arrests, theft rackets are going rampant in Agartala. On Saturday two bike thieves were arrested from Dashamighat area while stealing a bike numbered TR01Y 5768 Achiever and today more two thieves were arrested who were connected to the laptop bag stealing incident in Sidhai. Four of them would be produced before the court together tomorrow. It has been suspected that all the thieves are connected with a same gang although nothing is clear yet. The interrogations are underway.
An Achiever motorbike bearing number TR01Y 5768 Achiever was recovered on Saturday evening while stealing a bike from Dashmighat to Battala area and two bike thieves namely Subhash Rudrapaul of Melaghar and Akash Roy of Camper Bazar were arrested. West Agartala police station took up the case, case number, 2023WAG1 u/s 382D.
On the other hand in another theft incident a stolen laptop with laptop bag and its accessories was recovered from Hejamara under Sidhai PS based on confidential information from reliable sources.
Amrit Debbarma of Teliamura, stole the laptop from the house of a lawyer in Adviser Chowmuhani and sold it to Rakesh Debnath of Bijaynagar, Hejamara Bazar.
A case was registered under Case No. 100/2023 u/s 457/380 IPC. The four accused will be taken to court on Monday, police said.
