AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Amid the extreme water crisis that continues in various hilly zones and deep rural area of Tripura, Rs. 249 crore has been allocated for irrigation and flood management. Finance Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy during budget speech said, “During the year 2022-23, the Department has taken up work for construction of 846 Small Bore Tube Wells and 234 Deep Tube Wells to bring 4,713 ha agricultural land under Irrigation. Out of which 400 Small Bore Tube Wells and 4 Deep Tube Wells have been completed and commissioned to bring 1,006 ha agriculture land under Assured Irrigation. Besides these 446 Small Bore Tube Well and 102 Deep Tube Wells are completed”.
“This will bring total 3,043 ha agriculture under Assured Irrigation. Work of remaining 128 Deep Tube Wells is in progress. In flood management sector, anti-erosion work of 3,411 meter at 24 locations have been taken up. Out of which 680 meter anti-erosion work have been completed and remaining 2,731 meter anti erosion work is in progress. I propose to construct 7 new Lift Irrigation (L.I) Schemes and restore 20 Lift Irrigation Schemes with an outlay of Rs. 7 Cr and 8 Minor Irrigation Storage with an outlay of Rs. 65 Cr under different Blocks in the State. 140. I have kept total budget allocation of Rs. 249 Cr for Irrigation and Flood Management”, said the Finance Minister.
