AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): BJP led State Govt of Tripura presented 2023-24 Budget with an outlay of Rs 27,654.40 crore, with around Rs 5,358.70 crore allocated for capital expenditure.Reacting over the Budget 2023-24 and budget amount allocated for the development, Opposition Leader Animesh Debbarma said, the budget is not enough to cover Tripura’s problems and bring development. Rubbishing the claim that budget was hiked, Animesh Debbarma said, “A little amount was hiked but that’s not enough.GB Hospitals and other hospitals need more building. Even the Assembly toilet is in miserable condition. Schools are given advertisement of SMART classes whereas not even sufficient numbers of benches provided to the children. We need more budget allocations”. Animesh Debbarma also refused to accept the State Govt data of Fishery development and said, “If for two days fish supplies are stopped from Bangladesh, then prices of fish will go to thousand rupees”.

On the other hand, Tripura Govt has claimed about massive allocations in all sectors and covering all sectors and sections of people. Amid rising demands for more quality health services in Tripura, Tripura Govt has laid a plan for Rs. 1765 crores budget allocation to develop health services. During budget placement, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said, “Eleven Health and Wellness Centers will be constructed in Bruresettlement locations at North, Dhalai and Gomati Districts. Maharani PHC, Madhupur PHC and Bishramganj PHC will be upgraded to CHC level in 2023-24. Two new PHCs will be constructed at Nitya Bazar and Durpabari. Five new PHC buildings will be inaugurated at Anandanagar, Bamutia, Taibandal, Dayarampara and Niharnagar. Trauma Care Center (level-III) will be opened at North District Hospital, Dharmanagar during 2023-24”.

“Total 100 Health Sub Centre buildings will be constructed with an outlay of Rs. 30 Cr for strengthening basic health care infrastructure during FY 2023-24. A separate Centre for Communicable Diseases will be constructed in the State with an outlay of Rs. 55 Cr. Fifty bedded Drug De-addiction Centres will be established in phased manner in all the 8 Districts of the State. Hon’ble Speaker. I have provided an outlay of Rs. 1756 Cr for Health Sector in the Budget 2023-24”, added Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.

Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship for Divyanga (Blind) has been launched for encouraging Divyanga (Blind) students to pursue higher education.Monthly Special scholarship of Rs. 5,000/- will be disbursed to Graduate & Post Graduate courses.Also Rs. 4,000/- for Diploma level courses taken up by Divyanga Students.

Tripura’s GSDP has massively raised, said by State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy during budget place.

He stated, “In last five years we have taken number of steps for people’s welfare and economic development. This August House will be happy to know that State economy (GSDP) is estimated to have grown by 8.80 % during last FY 2022-23, compared to 7.20% growth estimated at national level. The State is estimated to grow at about 8.00% during the current FY 2023-24 as against estimated 6 to 6.5% growth at national level”.

Reacting over the Budget 2023-24, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that he would not comment anything over the budget because he did not read it. “I have received any copy yet, but still I can assure the budget is not a good one. Any good thing in this budget can not be expected from this Govt”, said Sarkar.

“It’s unable to provide salaries, wages to the people. Starvation is a fact among poor. Schools are in a skeleton structure, suffering due to lack of teachers. Power cut, water crisis have gripped the state. Hospitals are not in good shape and all these shows what has been the Govt is doing so far”, added Manik Sarkar.
