AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): National Exit Test for MBBS (NExT-1) imposition has put many students in trouble especially those who are in mid-session. Also, the students of Tripura have to travel to Slichar for such tests. Protesting against such unexpected tests’ imposition, students of Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC) said that such troubles are given to students aiming to promote online coaching business. Students who in mid-session asked, how would they prepare for it within a gap of 5 to 6 months ? The agitating students said the NExT-1 tests should be imposed for the new batch and not the ongoing batches.
A student who took admission in 2019 at AGMC and now in final year said, “We oppose the decision. Even in NMC’s clause it is said that the running students will be excluded when the rule was made. Now, why these sudden tests? Moreover, it was said that our exam will be held before internship, whereas after final exam we could go for internship as per the existing system. Our nearest center will be Shilchar if we have to go for the computerized examination”.
Another student said, “We are not afraid about the tests but we are not prepared for such sudden and unexpected computerized system. Even during Covid time, we did not appear for computer tests. Now, suddenly such rules were imposed. Moreover 50% marks will be made mandatory in all 19 subjects. This exam is MCQ based. We learn practical things by visiting hospitals. So, now just for the graduation we have to pass such tests for which we are not even mentally prepared. We can not accept the sudden decision of the NMC. We entered the institution through NEET exams and now why more tests?”
