Police fail to arrest accused in rape case

Agartala, Jan 25 (TIWN):It has been almost seven days yet the police have not been able to arrest the rape accused who had raped a middle – age woman at Malakarpara under Sidhai police station.

In-spite of all the efforts of the police, from past 7 days, the accused is still out of the reach.As per the information received, this unsuccessful attempt of police is now the talk of the area. Due to this apathetic attitude of police, such incidents are increasing in Tripura.

According  to report, accused Sujit Das whose father  is police constable, on 1st January night raped Rupali Das in her house. Following day the accused informed the incident to Vijaynagar Gram Panchayat.  The panchayat reporteldly told her that the issue would resolved in a meeting .But seeing no reponse even after waitng for fifteen days, the victim filed a case at Sidhai police station on 19 January. But till date the police failed to track the rape accused.  

The victim claimed that   Sukhranjan Das, father of the accused who is a police constable bribed the OC of the police station for not arresting the his son. However the OC, Manik Debnath declined the allegation as baseless and they are collecting evidence which is complete. At any point of time the accused would be nabbed .
