AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): Tripura Govt on High Alert and ready to open Relief Camps ahead of Cyclone-hit that may affect Tripura on May 14th. Tripura Govt is taking measures to prevent any untoward incident during cyclone waves. Also special care to be taken to save the crops in three Districts : Gomati, South and Dhalai, where Orange Alert have been given. According to weather experts of the state, on 13th that is tomorrow there might be a moderate cyclonic effect but 13th May is the day that needs to be observed due to the weather alert.
Talking to media persons, Dr. Sarat Kumar Das, Consultant and SPO, stated, “The cyclone is now located over the Bay of Bengal. As per the morning report of the Weather Dept, the cyclone is now transformed into a very strong storm and moving towards North, North-Western direction 9 KM per hour that may affect Bangladesh, India’s Northeast States Mizoram, Tripura and then Myanmar. On 14th May 40 to 60 KM P/H the cyclone will move. Right now, there is the Orange alert for Tripura’s three Districts South, Gomati, Dhalai which means “warning” and for 5 Districts there are Yellow Alerts which means the areas are to be kept under observation. NDRF to other resources is to be activated to avoid any trouble to the people. Central Govt also has assured full support to the state”.
