AGARTALA, May 1 (TIWN): Water scarcity has hit normal lives in Sabroom’s rural areas. Agitating public blocked road for hours since Monday morning at Poangbari. Getting information, officers rushed to the spot but they failed to convince the people over the issue. Even though assurances were given that water crisis problem will be ended but the agitators said that such promises they are getting since a long time but no solution could be given yet.
In Kanalbari area of Poangbari block of Sabroom sub-division, the locals requested to get a permanent solution of their demand for drinking water. The road blockade started from 9 am. The people of the area alleged that there is an acute shortage of drinking water for a long time. People of Kanalbari area got together and blocked the road as there was no supply of drinking water even after informing many times at the block and panchayat level officials many times. Right now due to water crisis, the locals are heavily suffering amid the heated summer.
The police and BDO of the block rushed to the spot after receiving the information about the road blockade.
