AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): Ahead of Bengali New Year that is ‘Poyla Boishakh’, reduction sales in the Chaitra Fair started in Agartala Sakuntala road.
The Chaitra Fair where clothes will be sold at special discounts has started at Sakuntala market and the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has allocated space on the footpath.
Talking to the businessmen, they said that they are hopeful that this year they can earn wisely.
Last few years when Biplab Deb was the Chief Minister, massive brutality was displayed against the hawkers. They were not only stopped from making profit on footpath but when they protested, their shops and clothes were seized by AMC and the police. In Children Park, the hawkers were forced to sit in exchange for stall charges.
However, this year once again the traditional Chaitra Fair’s space has been restored and businessmen have thanked Manik Saha-led Tripura Govt and AMC.
The Chaitra Fair will continue till 14th April, one day ahead of Poyla Boiskhakh.
