AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): It was alleged that miscreants set fire to Kanti Lal Dey’s house at Joyanagar area in 35 Belonia Assembly Constituency at around 11:30 o'clock on Saturday night.

Kanti Lal Dey is BJP’s Pristha Promukh. After setting the fire, the fire spread to a shop and in a kitchen room in the house. Belonia fire brigade personnel were immediately informed, firefighters reached the spot and tried to bring the fire under control.

Nothing was saved in the shop as everything was completely destroyed by fire. And several parts of the kitchen were burnt to ashes. If the fire department staff did not arrive on time, the fire would have spread to their living room, reportedly.

However, panic has spread in the area centering on the fire incident in BJP’s Pristha Promukh’s house. It is alleged that the CPIM-Congress supporters set fire to the shop.

On Sunday morning, local BJP representatives rushed to the spot after receiving such news and strongly protested the incident.
