Agartala, January 20 (TIWN): Keeping the court’s order in mind, to submit the complete charge-sheet into multi-crore MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar RD Block within two months, the police including investigation officer (IO) of the case is on hurry under the shadow of Melarmath, said an official source today.

According to the source, the partial charge-sheet prepared by the police into MGNREGA scam case failed to satisfy the Additional District and Sessions Court on January 16. After the submission of partial (incomplete) charge-sheet, the court has directed the investigation officer to prepare and tender the complete charge-sheet of this sensitive case on January 16 within two months, said source.

As a result, there is a huge chance of negligence in course of remaining investigation amid rush preparation for charge-sheet, added source. “The present status of investigation indicates very low chance of submission of complete charge-sheet within two months as two more accused persons of the total FIR named persons Debprasad Nandi (GRS) and Mita Malakar (Junior Engineer) are still at large”, said a senior police officer.

Asked about Debprasad, “Police are relentlessly working to bring Debprasad in homeland from Bangladesh as soon as possible and sought assistance from BSF in this regard”, he said. If police fail to bring him back to Tripura, police would appeal before the court for permanent warrant against him and would move to Interpol for further assistance, he added.

It is worthy to mention here; in the middle of investigation, the investigation officer (IO) framed the charges showing financial irregularities of Rs. 1.4 crore at Bishalghar RD Block and submitted the 1350-page partial charge-sheet before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) on January 11. After the submission of first phase charge-sheet, the SDJM Court forwarded it to Addl. District and Sessions Court on January 12 for further hearing, said police.

On the other hand, 8 accused persons among the 9 surrendered or arrested persons including scamster Bimal Chakraborty would be produced before the Addl. District and Sessions Court on January 31, said a senior police officer, said official source.
