AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): During 2018’s local body poll, a candidate of Amra Bangali party in Tripura had to climb up a tree in his house when his wife was telling lies to the BJP local workers that her husband is not in the home as they came to attack her husband after he filed nomination for the poll. That time, BJP won 96% seats uncontested and then in the next poll around 86%. The theory of violence and attacks on opposition media by suppressing everyone’s voice launched by ex-CM Biplab Deb who predicted to win a permanent CM post by sponsoring ‘dictatorship’ in Tripura but that attempt instead generated massive incumbency in last 5 years and dictator theory failed by voters who cast vote 87.76%.

Election Commission of India’s temperament was different this time, who ordered for a “Violence Free” poll, caused suspensions of Police Officers.

On yesterday’s press meet, CEO Kiran Gitte mentioned that this time no candidate was stopped from submitting nomination and Election Dept, Police tried their level best to secure the candidates and voters. Referring the high poll spirit among voters, CEO mentioned that the last voting continued till 10 O’Clock. He said, Dhanpur constituency took the highest time to cover the poll casting process.  CEO also said, after 4 O’Clock in about 1600 booths vote casting continued.  Kiran Gitte assured that the strong rooms have been kept under CCTV surveillance and the CCTV footage is displayed on TV.

In a message for peace, SP West Shankar Debnath said, “Poll is over. Now there is no reason for such activities. We are working day-night to control the situation, but it is seen whenever an incident happens, political parties are trying to paint it with political colour. I appeal to all political parties to deal with the matters very sensitively”.
