AGARTALA, Feb 17 (TIWN): Tripura in last 5 years turned worse than Bihar in fraudulence and political corruption and also has been on peak of political influences at the administrative level. Booth capturing turned a normal tradition in Tripura polls. Amid viral videos of booth capturing, broad daylight robberies, there was hardly any re-polling order came from the Election Commission in past 5 years.
In 2019 Lok Sabha poll, by stopping webcasting rigging took place in MP Pratima Bhowmik's constituency. Then shockingly, although repolling was ordered by the Election Commission, it was for those booths where rigging could not be conducted by the BJP. It generated uproars and protests. In all polls, starting from the local body to by-polls, BJP used “Chappa” voters to win polls along with other instruments such as violence, misuse of police machinery by keeping them paralyzed.
But this time spirit of opposition and voters was different and voters were determined to cast votes.
Election Commission of India also ordered a “Zero Poll Violence” in Tripura Assembly poll. Although attacks were held on voters, and polling agents but BJP’s master key of booth capturing could not work out this time.
Voters have hailed to Election Dept for securing booths.
The main ‘heroes’ of the Tripura poll are the voters who waited hours to cast their votes throughout the state. Lakhs of voters reached booths to cast vote at 5 O’Clock in the morning.
In some places, fake voters were also detected and immediate actions were taken. Total voter turnout in Tripura is 87.63%
