AGARTALA, Feb 17 (TIWN): Marking a history, total Voter Turnout in Tripura is 87.63% in 2023 Assembly Poll. Even though scattered violence happened but this Election could be saved from booth capturing. Videos are viral where voters have cast votes crossing all threats and riggers on road which were organized by the BJP. In the night hours few allegations of EVM theft came which also added reports of violence but Election Dept is yet to clarify the matter.

Talking to a young voter who is 29 years old, she said, “I have voted in so many polls but today it was exceptional. Huge numbers of voters, massive rows could be witnessed. Each voter took at least two hours to cast vote whereas in many areas there, it took more time than that".

This year’s poll spirit is historical as in last many years including 40% to 50% of fake / chappa-votes, the voting percentage could not be to that level whereas this time, voters have cast votes amid threats and attacks.

It was not possible unless Election Commission of India had not ordered a “Zero” poll violence.

Violence happened but the poll was fair and in some places fake voters were detected, arrested, punished. The state also could not escape attack incidents on the polling agents but after the poll was over, the general view was in favor of conducting a much “free and fair” poll in compare to the last few years.

The entire credit goes to voters’ spirit, few active media and Election Dept’s dedicated efforts which have downed the poll rigging at a massive rate and prevented booth capturing totally.
