CHARILAM, Feb 14 (TIWN): Attacks and counterattacks have been reported in Charilam. At least five persons were injured in the attack. A total of five people, including two members of the ruling party, were seriously injured in a counter attack when the houses of CPIM party workers and supporters were allegedly vandalized in South Brajpur area of Charilam Assembly late on Monday night. Three CPI-M workers were also seriously injured. After rescuing the injured, the doctors on duty referred them to GB Hospital in Agartala for better treatment. It is known that CPIM supporters Sibcharan Lashkar, Pintu Lashkar and Hiralal Shib were injured and on the other hand BJP's Suman Debnath and Jaydeb Das were also seriously injured.
CPIM candidate of Bishalgarh Partha Pratim Majumdar along with other party workers and supporters rushed to Bishalgarh Hospital.
An FIR was filed against the Mandal President of Charilam along with the village Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan at Bishalgarh police station in the night and the details of the incident were also reported to the Returning Officer of the Election Commission to take appropriate action against the accused.
