AGARTALA, Feb 8 (TIWN): Congress National Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on Wednesday slammed the BJP led Tripura Govt over the ongoing violence in Tripura since the Govt formation. Shrinate also reminded the BJP Govt that Central Govt data shows Tripura tops in political violence in the whole Northeast region. Citing various incidents of violence where state and national Congress leaders were attacked by BJP’s bike gang, she asked what kind of rule is being given by the BJP in Tripura. She recalled about the deadly attacks on the opposition during polls, adding, “In a democratic structure the voice of opposition is very important but in Tripura it seems, there is no right of the opposition parties. Whenever any program is being organized, opposition leaders have to face the attack”.

“Have you ever heard a state’s leader was attacked after entering other states ?”, she said referring attack on Dr.  Ajay Kumar.

She also mentioned about the attack on Kailashahar Dist President to Congress MLA Sudip Barman, Asish Saha.

“We were shocked to see Sudip Roy Barman’s condition in photos and the way he was attacked during by-poll. How can a state launch that level of violence on opposition?”, Shrinate asked.

“On one side, political leaders are being attacked and on the other hand crime rates have spiked up. 18 rapes are happening per month. When people want to protest, they are also attacked. What is the Govt doing ?”, she asked.

“Huge numbers of party offices were vandalized, attacked which are uncountable. The situation displays as if there is no right to raise voice by the opposition and also by media”, said Shrinate.
