AGARTALA, January 17 (TIWN): In order to implement the provisions of the Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act- 2009 in effective manner, State Advisory Council (SAC) was re-constituted with 15 members.According to a gazette notification vide- F.31(3-60)-SE/GL-I/2011(V-11) undersigned by Addl. Secretary- PK Chakraborty, in pursuance of section 34 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act-2009 and Rule 19 of the Right of the Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules (Tripura)- 2011, the Governor was pleased to re-constituted the SAC for next three years. The 15-member council was formed as- School Education Minister (Chairperson), Director of School Education (Member Secretary), Executive Member (Education) of TTAADC (Member), Principal Secretary of School Education (Member), eminent educationist Dr. Brajagopal Roy (Member),
Director of Higher Education (member), Director of Social Welfare and Social Education (Member), Director of SCERT (Member), State Project Director of SSA, Rajya Mission (Member), one representative from Law Department (Member), Associate Professor of Ramthakur College- Md. Mojahid Rahman (Member), renowned educationist- Kandarpa Mohan Malakar (Member), Head Mistress of Banividyapith Girls’ HS School- Dr. Bithika Choudhury (Member), Assistant Teacher of UK Academy- Ashim Paul (Member) and retired teacher of Bardowali HS School- Narayan Rudra Paul (Member). It was also mentioned in the notification that the council shall meet regularly at such time as the chairperson thinks fit but three months shall not intervene between its last meeting and the next meeting.
The School Education Department would provide required logistic supports for holding meetings of the council and in performing other related functions.
