AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, January 16 (TIWN): Problem arose in the generation of power from Palatana Unit-I from Thursday night which had stopped production of the Unit. As a result, frequent load sheddings returned to haunt the people of Tripura with over power cut in morning and evening for past few days. Load shedding in Tripura has made life miserable as Tripura’s own power generation is down to its half of total capacity during past few days. However the concerning authorities were unable to inform about the actual time for the full maintenance of the unit. Earlier from Tuesday sudden trip at Palatana causes frequent load shedding in the whole State. An official source of TSECL stated over telephone that Palatana and Rukhia power plants were unable to meet the state’s power demand during past few days.
The highest demand of power was recorded at 210 MW.But the power plants were hardly able to generate less than half of its demand (100 MW), he added. “The deficit ofpower has forced the TSECL to maintain load shedding across the state with increased timing”, said source. On the other hand, the sudden shutdown will again plunge the state into severe shortage of power supply that can also result in long and frequent load shedding for 23hrs . Due to continuous technical snags ONGCTripura PalatanaPower Company (OTPC), has not been able to supply uninterrupted power supply which resulted frequent load shedding across Tripura.
But the concerning authorities did not forecast the problem. Rather than they were busy in other unimportant issues which results in the sufferings of the common people of the State. Madhyamik and H.S (+2) examination is nearby knocking door. In this situation, frequent power cuts created serious problems for students.
