AGARTALA, Dec 12 (TIWN): Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Monday evening condemned police brutality on the STGT candidates, saying, “Tripura has witnessed the Fascist Govt’s color once again. At first, Ratan Lal Nath misbehaved with the agitators who went to meet him. Misbehaviour is Ratan Lal Nath’s Culture and his arrogance is the result of his extreme pride due to power. He always abuses teachers and all sections of people on camera and so by calling the job aspirants they were abused in his chamber and then he came out and left the place. At the same time, he ordered police to beat the unemployed youths and clear the area. As soon as the Minister left, without giving them a chance, the police personnel started lathi-charge which left 4 persons critically injured and more 40 minorly injured. Even a pregnant woman was injured in this incident”.

“This however nothing new. Earlier 10323 teachers were beaten up many times and then, STGT, TET candidates were attacked by police many times. Right now 5304 posts are vacant. These are the current posts whereas the previous posts were abolished and if these posts are not fulfilled then by 1 year, these posts will be vacated”, said Sudip Roy Barman.

“TET-1 Passed candidates can teach 1 to 5 students,  whereas the TET-2 teachers are for 6 to 8. STGT qualified candidates will be for 9 and 10 classes whereas STPGT qualified candidates can teach 11 and 12 classes. Under STGT only 612 teachers were recruited in last 5 years”, said Sudip Barman.

“I want to know what was the agitating youths’ faults. They did not block road and also did not pelt the stone. Then, why so much brutality on them ?”, said Sudip Barman.

“It means Govt’s first priority is not Education and Health. Lots of youths are unemployed in Education and Health sectors, but Govt just filled up few new police posts by backdoor where some BJP backed youths were given jobs. How come Govt gets fund to recruit those unnecessary employees but in case of Health and Education, it has no fund”, Sudip Barman added.
