AGARTALA, Nov 7 (TIWN): How many times, qualified candidates have to appear in exams and pass the interviews to get a job? Which law does allow Tripura Education Dept to take one exam twice even after the publication of the results? Around 500 ST candidates passed in STGT gheraoed Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s home on Monday seeking his response regarding when they will be recruited. The STGT-qualified candidates met Ratan Lal Nath previously many times but by not getting any proper response from him yet, today, the ST job aspirants have gheraoed Education Minister’s home. Earlier the Minister assured the job aspirants that he will look after the matter shortly but after months gone, no positive outcome received from the meeting led the unemployed qualified youths to gherao the Minister’s home.

Talking to the media, an agitating youth said, “Earlier we passed in the selection test. Then we met Education Minister to know when we will be appointed. He assured us to check the matter and now the Dept is telling us to sit in the exam again. We have already passed the exam with preparations and now why should we have to take again preparation when we are already passed out”?

The agitating youths displayed banners demanding “recruitment” of all ST candidates together.

They stated that there are massive backlogs of ST vacant seats :

1) 2016 = 401 ST posts

2) 2017 (May) = 1430

3) 2017 (November) = 1384

Minister Ratan Lal Nath was spotted going out of his residence when the unemployed youths were agitating but he did not talk to the agitators.

Noteworthy, Tripura has over 20000 vacant posts in teaching but even after having thousands of passed out candidates, Tripura Govt is not recruiting them together. Under the previous Left Govt, as soon as the candidates passed the TET, they were invited to join in jobs but now under BJP Govt after TET, STGT and so many verifications also, job aspirants go frustrated.

Before 2018 election, BJP promised to recruit 50,000 Govt employees within 1 year of Govt formation but the Gov t has failed to provide even few thousand regular jobs in 5 years.
