AGARTALA, Oct 10 (TIWN): A thief was caught by the mob, the thief is identified as Sanjay Debnath S/o- Tapan Debnath is a leader of ruling party BJP resident of Dhajnagar in Bishalgarh.

Sanjay was accused of stealing various items including cello machines and various iron items from houses in the area for the past few months and due to his father is a leader of ruling BJP party, no one dared to say anything.

Local people kept sharp eyes on him to catch red handed, and accordingly on Sunday morning, he was gheraoed by the people of Bydyardighi Kasba area centering theft issue and beat him up. As soon as the news of the thief's arrest spread, the eager crowd gathered in the Kasba area.

Information was given to Vishalgarh police station, the police rushed and rescued accused Sanjay from the wrath of the angry crowd

Later he was sent to Bishalgarh High Court, the court released Sanjay on conditional bail.
