AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): Reportedly, in 2021-22 Budget session the state Govt had declared to distribute ‘Sanitary Napkins’ free of cost among all School students ( Class VI- XII, which means from 10 years to 19 years in rural areas). Those sanitary Napkins will be provided through ‘Asha Workers’ at Rs 6 as subsidy for 6 Sanitary Napkins’ instead of providing Rs 23 (Market Price).
To start this scheme Govt had allocated Rs 4.10 crore but despite crossing a year TMHS (Tripura Menstrual Hygiene Scheme) the service has not yet started.
Fact is the declared Scheme has remained only in announcement and has not met in reality, resulting the girl students are being deprived of getting the ‘Free Sanitary Napkins’.
Centering this, question being raised, if the scheme was not utilized then where has the allocated money gone ? The concerned Department also failed to provide clarification about it.
