AGARTALA, June 14 (TIWN): After Left-wing CPIM(L) called for Congress, CPI-M and Tipra Motha’s alliance in by-poll, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on Monday disproved any possible alliance with the Congress party in the coming days or in the by-polls but he did not mark such an alliance to be impossible in the 2023 Assembly Election. Jitendra Chowdhury said Left Front has not yet decided about such an anti-BJP alliance yet. However, the ongoing political scenario in the state of Tripura reflects that although CPI-M is mute over Congress’s politics it has been totally against the regional party Tipra Motha which is closed to the opposition Congress right now. In such a situation alliance with Congress in the upcoming 2023 poll will be hardly possible if Congress aligns with Tipra Motha party which is now the ruling ADC party and is dominating over indigenous vote banks.
Clarifying CPIM(L)’s statement which urged voters to vote for Congress in Agartala two seats, CPI-M in North Tripura and Tipra Motha in Surma, Jitendra Chowdhury said, “We are happy that CPIM(L) is supporting our candidate in Jubaraj Nagar as a part of Anti-BJP mission but it should not be misunderstood as CPI-M or Left Front’s call. Our appeal to the voters is to vote for us in all four Assembly constituencies”.
Tripura By-Election to be conducted on June 23rd in four constituencies: 1) Town Bordowali (8), 2) Agartala (6), 3) Surma, 4) Jubarajnagar.
CPIM(L) on Monday called for an alliance among Congress, Left Front and Tipra Motha and to support those candidates who are strongest constituency-wise like in Agartala Congress candidates are now strongest and in Surma Tipra Motha, in Jubaraj Nagar CPI-M.
