AGARTALA, June 14 (TIWN): Police have arrested a young man for trying to loot money from an ATM.
Reportedly, on 11 June at night of June 11, a young man entered an ATM counter of SBI, which is located in Mohanpur Fire Brigade Chowmuhani area under Sidhai PS and made an effort to vandalise the ATM machine to break it. After the matter came to the notice of the bank authorities, they filed a case directly at the PS, accordingly Police investigated the case and were able to arrest the accused on Monday night based in CCTV footage.
The accused was identified as Russell Mia, residing in Gopalnagar area under Sidhai PS.
Police said that the accused had been trying to loot money inside the ATM counter for about two hours but could not loot money. However, some parts of the machines have been damaged.
The accused will be produced before court seeking police remand. Police are also trying to find out if anyone else is involved in the scam, a sub divisional police official said.
