DEVIPUR/BISHALGARH, January 6 (TIWN): In recent months a section of BSF and administration achieved success in destroying countraband at various places in Tripura. BSF and SDM Sonamura deserves to be specially mentioned in these operations. Acting on secret information BSF and administrations in different sub divisions destroyed huge fields of countrabands; still in broad daylight farming of Hemp Plantation continues. And quite surprisingly in some places these types of farming is done by govt officials in govt owned land especially in such area that are very close to Indo-Bangla border. TRIPURAINFOWAY's investigating team discovered two places in which fresh plantations of Hemp is still done by the Govt officials. Getting secret information, TIWN's special team visited the Devipur Tea Garden owned by Tripura Tea Development Corporation Ltd(TTDCL).This tea garden is located at Devipur area ( on the way to Kashba Kalibari) under Bishalgarh Sub Division. Devipur Tea Garden is adjacent to the Indo-Bangla border at Kashba. Standing from this garden one can easily hear the sound of broad gauge trains running in Bangladesh. This tea garden is also fenced by Indo-Bangla border fencing with the BSF personnels keeping round the clock vigil.

Inside the Devipur Tea Garden there is a Tourist Bunglow namely Balaka owned by the Tripura Tea Development Corporation Ltd. More than 300 families earn their livelihood by working on this garden. Just opposite of the Balaka the Gate No 11 of the garden is heading towards the picnic spots. But while going to the picnic spots through Gate No 11 none is allowed to stop near the lungas and the small lake flowing through the garden. TIWN's investigation team discovered two spots where Hemp plantations are growing their heads day by day. Taking the risk of their lives TIWN team captured pictures of these plantations ( the mafias ate on constant vigil not to allow anyone to go through these areas.)

While speaking with the local residents is has been revealed that due to the unholy alliance with (TTDCL) and a section of BSF personnels deployed in that area, also a group of ruling party mafias are now running these Hemp Cultivation(contraband) . And these persons are so powerful that even after continuous protests from the local residents , the farming of this coubtraband can not be stopped. And thus within a few months Devipur Tea Garden will become a hunting ground of contraband mafias.

It is to be mentioned here that every day hundreds of tourists visit the Devipur Tea Garden. But tourists will gradually lose interest as the geography of Devipur Tea Garden is going to lose its beauty soon.
