AGARTALA, January 5 (TIWN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state party is all set to welcome Tripura Progotishil Gramin Congress (TPGC) supremo Subal Bhowmik. Bhowmik will join the BJP afterJanuary 7, said BJP state president Sudhindra Das Gupta.

Talking to TIWN today the BJP state president Sudhindra Das Gupta said that the BJP always welcomes people as a BJP member but no party alliance is allowed. Later on the issue of TPGC supremo Subal Bhowmik,  Das Gupta alleged that earlier Subal Bhowmik had created nuisance moving to Delhi and asking for his BJP membership. He said that after Bhowmik joins BJP,  BJP's  separate committee  will decide his membership in BJP party. And there is no chance for sit-in-home press meet, said Sudhindra das Gupta.

Asked about his view on the current status of the Tripura Progotishil Gramin Congress (TPGC), Dasgupta said that TPGC lost all footings and there is no existence of the party. He said that even during the last Panchayat election the TPGC has been seen no where.

However later briefing the membership procedure of the BJP party, Das Gupta said that any individual who wants to join the BJP, can simply give missed call to 18002662020 number to become a member of the party.

Tripura's dissident Congress leader Subal Bhowmik launched a new party TPGC and blamed the central and state party leaders for the Congress' humiliating defeat in the February 14, 2013 assembly polls. He said that said that he has sent his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on April 1, 2013, saying that there was no discipline in the party and the state leadership was incompetent.

"With the present leadership at the helm of affairs of the state party, the Congress would not come to power in Tripura in the next hundred years," Bhowmik said earlier, claiming that many Congress leaders would join the TPGC.
