AMBASSA, January 2 (TIWN): A speeding commander jeep snatched the life of a pedestrian here today at Ambassa. Another person referred to GBP Hospital. Police nabbed the driver of the commander. The incident occurred in front of the CMO Office on Assam-Agartala National Highway around 12 noon.
According to police and locales, cart puller Ranjit Das (55) and his assistant Raju Dhar were crossing on their way with paddy-loaded cart. The speeding commander jeep bearing number TR-04-2146 struck them from behind in high speed. As a result, Ranjit died on spot. Raju was shifted to Kulai District Hospital and then to GBP Hospital. Police succeeded to nab the driver Santu Pal who somehow managed to escape.
