AGARTALA, Jan 27 (TIWN): 10323 Teachers under the ‘Joint Movement Committee’ protested on “Black Day” at Agartala City Centre but as soon as the teachers had gathered at City Center, Police arrested all. There was a tussle among police and the 10322 teachers. Reacting to the arrest of Police, JMC leader Bijoy Krishna Saha said, “We are demanding our termination letters but the Govt is not providing us terminations. It is not good for democracy where people are not allowed to protest. This Govt is not giving us salaries, no termination letter, and also not allowing us to protest. What the 10323 teachers should do? Last year, on the same day, brutal attacks took place on us and we are protesting against it”.
The terminated teachers demanded a permanent solution to their problem which was promised by the incumbent Govt to do. The 10323 teachers lost their jobs after Courts had cited irregularities in the recruitment process. BJP before 2018 Assembly Election verbally and in written forms promised to give a permanent solution to the teachers’ problems but after four years of the BJP Govt in Tripura, nothing could be done and so far the death toll among the 10323 teachers raised to 123.
