AGARTALA, Jan 20 (TIWN): Has the Health Department of Tripura taken steps for massive publicity to invite Covid death victims’ families to submit applications for ex-gratia? The answer is “No”. Infact, Biplab Deb Govt has tried to ignore the entire issue and the opposition also has failed to help the people by making them aware about rights. Today Supreme Court will pass a clear order in this regard after it has asked all States to make sure nobody remains deprived of the Covid death compensation. Applicants are invited to claim Covid’s death and Supreme Court has made it clear that no family should be deprived based on “Technical Grounds”. In Tripura, many people were declared as dead of “Heart Attack”, though they died in Covid center. Then many patients after death were claimed as “Covid Negative”. Of course, those denials can be readdressed.
The Supreme Court has given 1 week to all State Govt to fix the matters.
Supreme Court further said, “Reach out to kin for Covid Ex-Gratia, don’t wait for claims”.
“Not even one family should be deprived………..”, said Supreme Court.
But in Tripura, no media came in a wide awareness campaign about all these, as the Govt tried to hide the matter, although CM Biplab Deb earlier promised to give Rs. 10 lakhs to each Covid death.
Supreme Court asked a few states, how the numbers of applicants can be so less than the official figures ?
Tripura Govt had formed a rule that no media should talk directly to the Administrative officials at any level. It has barred media to get information about the exact status.
