AGARTALA, December 27 (TIWN): Inexperienced RD Minister Naresh Jamatia has asked all the BDOs to generate at least 40 mandays under the MGNREGA within next two weeks to justify the state's claims for more funds for the MGNREGA scheme from the Centre. After CM Manik Sarkar’s ‘penny wise pound foolish’ decision to remove Jiten Chaudhury from RD Ministry paying “rich” dividends to Left front Govt. Tripura had a terrible performance in terms of lowest-ever mandays generation in the first three quarters of 2014-15. Inept RD Minister Naresh Jamatia tried his best but failed. Till today, Tripura has generated only 28 mandays on an average in the past nine months. Some blocks recorded as low as 20 mandays. Tripura's performance was satisfactory till Jiten Chaudhury was RD Minister in the previous years till 2013-14. It was never less than 50 days till the third quarter of a particular fiscal during Jiten Chaudhury's time. Also, Tripura topped the list in terms of mandays generation, asset creation and mobilization of funds in four consecutive years.

Many rural development blocks have been identified as poor performer in the implementation of scheme this year. It created something between 15 and 20 mandays.
But the only positive news is few blocks have done moderately well, creating 35 to 40 mandays under Dhalai District.
Rather Naresh Jamatia complained that the Centre is delaying in releasing the next installment of MGNREGA funds. Naresh Jamatia is taking shelter under blatant lies to cover up his inefficiency.

But the fact is CM Manik Sarkar appointed an inept Minister to look after RD Dept.   Congress/BJP alleged that a particular block cannot generate more mandays just to satisfy the wish or whims of the  Minister, it depends on the MGNREGA job seekers who must ask for more work.

Recent MGNREGA scam in Bishalgarh in the last three financial years was the handiwork of the BDO Bimal Chakraborty, who was found to make false entry following the state government's direction to show off the state's performance and get more money from the Centre. There is a big gap of functioning between Block Level Officers to State/District level officers after suspension of BDO Bishalghar Bimal Chakraborty.Most of the BDOs are not willing to work on any fabricated or inflated figures nowadays due to fear of jail term/ CBI investigation. Total administration is collapsed as far as MGNREGA scheme implementation is concerned. Many  works are still undone and left in the middle.

Naresh Jamatia's statement proved how the Left Front government imposed its officers to indulge in corrupt practices to achieve a fake goal over the years.  Narendra Modi government has now taken a number of measures to plug the misuse of funds meant for the rural people.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar certainly understands now the wrongdoings on his part for damaging Tripura's RD Dept, Industry Dept etc.. Removal of most efficient RD Minister Jiten Chaudhury from State to score cheap political scores not paying any returns finally. Chief Minister need to enroll in management school to learn few basic chapters on managing a Govt, importance of assigning key Departments,responsibilities to efficient people. Highly inefficient Ministers like Naresh Jamatia, Tapan Chakraborty not only a burden for State people and officials, also a burden for Chief Minister himself due to non-performance of their departments.
