AGARTALA, December 26 (TIWN): Indeed a developing state Tripura brings in believes in superstition among the people, who seems to be much unaware of science and knowledge. In yet another incident of believe in superstition, thousands of devotees of Gokulpur Bazar area under Gomati District witnessed to be attracted towards a five surprising branches that has took its root from Beleric tree (Bahera).

It was reported that a bizarre shaped branches that looks like 5 fingers of a hand has grown from one Beleric tree (Bahera) at Gokul Bazar area under Gomati District. And since after it came to a notice of some religious people who later succeeded to drew thousands of devotees to offer prayers to it. From Thursday morning till today the devotees across the entire district started staging a bee storming gathering infront of the Beleric tree at Gokulnagar Bazar area.

However later getting an alarm a delegation from Gomati Science Forum rushed to the place and tried to convince the people at the area about the rare plant and gave them a scientific explanation by showing them another such plant that the delegation carried with them.

Inspite of that the people from the entire Gomati district and other parts started gathering in front of the plant to offer prayers and has been donating charity of Rs. 10 to 50.

However it is also mentionable here that earlier this year on another such incidents the people were forced to drink a contaminated water in the drain with a believe that this water will bring the wishes of the devotees come true, but the situation has been brought under control by several efforts of the state govt.

It is also to be mentioned here that during the year 2013 the Tripura Rajya Upajati Gana Mukti Parishad (UGMP), the tribal frontal organization of the ruling CPM, had announced that it would launch a massive campaign against superstitions like witchcraft and black magic across the backward areas of the state. But such a campaign turned bleak and has no outcome till today here in the so called developing state.
