Tripura Livestock Development Agency likely to distribute 8 motorbikes

AGARTALA, December 24 (TIWN): In order to provide mobility Al activities and veterinary service in different districts, 8 numbers of motorbikes will be provided to Al Co-Ordinators/ veterinary officer as a beginning.

The aim of this beginning is to speed up the mobility of the government machinery to implement the AI work in intensive manner and to move interior places which will also help in providing to reach the outreached farmers, said Minister for Agriculture Aghore Debbarma while inaugurating the Tripura Livestock Development Agency (TLDA)  programme at veterinary office, here today.

Tripura Livestock Development Agency science its inception in the year has been devoting in productivity enhancement of cattle and buffalo besides other live stock species in Tripura to make the state self reliance in food of animal origin, the minister added.

 Following are some of the important activities that are being carried out by TLDA:-

 1.Artificial insemination in order to upgrade the genetically low yielding cattle and buffaloes of the state by infusing genes of high yielding exotic and breeds for augmentation of milk production by way of cross breeding programme.

 2. Training of door step AI workers for coverage of more and more number of cattle and buffaloes indifferent districts of the state through National Project on cattle and buffalo breeding.

 3.Heifer rearing scheme providing Calf Growth Meal (CGM) to the farmers to produce high yielders.

 4.Supply of Milch Ratio, Mineral Mixture, Dewormers for cows to maximized yield.

 5.Introduction of Cross Breed/ Indigenous Indian breeds of cattle and buffalo.

 6.Bank linked mini dairy scheme.

 7.Conduct of fertility camp to enhance reproduction and thereby higher production of milch cows.

 8.Distribution of breeding bulls in ADC areas for natural service where AI facilities yet to be developed.

 9.Cattle show and calf rally for encouraging farmers and awareness camps.

 In 2014-2015 target of 1.70 lakhs has been fixed for carrying out artificial insemination under the National Project on Bovine breeding. In order to cover maximum numbers of breedable under animals under artificial insemination programme it is of utmost necessity to provide this service at the door step of the farmers as many breedable animals are difficult to AI centers during the period of heat of the animal for insemination at proper time, Aghore Debbarma.
