AGARTALA, December 23 (TIWN): The Tripura Govt. Employees Federation (TGEF) today staged a street corner at Agartala Gurkhabosti with a demand for higher perks and benefits for state government employees, pensioners under the central govt. scheme. The Federation said that the state government’s stand of waiting for 14th Finance Commission awards before declaring any additional awards for employees and pensioners would lead to catastrophic results in the entire period of the Commission’s operation.
Talking to the media the TGEF Chief Secretary Samar Roy said that the street corner was staged today as a part of the greater agitation against the state government’s alleged deprivation to the employees and pensioners.
And later today during the street corner the federation Chief Secretary Samar Roy coming down heavily on Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that Manik Sarkar had been making fool of them and has been depriving the Tripura Govt. Employees at large.
The Federation today demanded that the state government should agree to proposals from employees and pensioners to increase grade pay, clear all pending Dearness Allowance (DA) at par with central government employees etc as committed liabilities before the 14th Finance Commission declared its awards.
Asked about the next course of action, TGEF Chief Secretary Roy today said that the federation would go for greater agitation in future unless the state government stepped in to redress the problems.
