AGARTALA, December 22 (TIWN): Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC), Tripura State Committee organized a sit-in-demonstration regarding 18 point charter of demands at Paradise Chowmuhani, here today.
The demands are; immediate withdrawal of recent power tariff hike, rehabilitation of Battala footpath vendors, to set up fast track court and up gradation of Tripura Jute mill etc.
Addressing in the sit-in-demonstration Convener of Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress, Tripura State Committee Biplab Kar criticized Tripura’s ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) led Left Front government for under-development and silence in the national politics over problems of the state. “Tripura had political stability for the past 2 decades. How come poverty is still rising and development is running at such slow pace?” he asked. He slammed the state government over its industrial policies. He also charged the Congress party as well over corruption, lack of decision and action in developing the State.
Biplab Kar further criticized the CPIM government over issues of spurious-drug, atrocities against women, corruption, malfunctioning of PDS, chit fund, deterioration of law and order, underdevelopment of tribal people and deprivation of employees during the agitation.
Biplab also criticized the tight-lipped gesture of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over the increasing crimes and vowed to intensify party’s agitation across the state. He also urged the public to condemn the role of Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio. The 21-year misrule has resulted in the state being labeled the least developed state in the country. Corruption has mushroomed in every sphere, he claimed.
