Kailasahar, Dec 22 (TIWN): Allegations were raised against the Kumarghat Horticulture Office for not completing the construction of Heritage Park at Kailasahar adjacent to Circuit House even after sanctioning of government funds. The park is now lying in miserable condition.
According to the official sources, with the special initiative of then District Magistrate, Unokoti district- Abhishek Chandra, the Heritage Park was set up in the Financial Year 2013-14.
A total of Rs. 17 lakh was allocated for establishing the park, said source. The park was created with an effort to provide attractive space to the visitors and VIPs at Kailasahar. The entire construction was supposed to be completed by 2013 but more than half of the construction remained unfinished till date.
A vast number of saplings were brought from outside of the state to make the park more eye-catching to the tourists. The local sources said that some of the saplings were planted inside the park premises while a huge number of saplings are lying in miserable condition till date. No further initiative was taken by the concerned authority to plant the saplings in the park losing the government funds, said sources.
Hiralal Debbarma was the Deputy Director of Kumarghat Horticulture Office on the time of implementation works for creating the park. The locals adjacent to the park demanded that total allocated fund of Rs 17 lakh should be implemented for the betterment of the Heritage Park immediately.
