AGARTALA, Aug 26 (TIWN): On Wednesday after 5 long hours of heavy rainfall and waterlogged in Belonia Municipal Council area made many people homeless.

One person has died and injured 2 in the landslide in the flood.

The Sub-Divisional administration helped Narayan Bhowmik’s family by giving financial assistance, who died in landslide and also helped the father of the minors by giving money for their treatment as his two sons were injured in landslide. 6 completely damaged and 14 partially damaged families will be given houses later, assured the SDM.

The SDM aso met the homeless people who are presently in shelter camp. Foods have been distributed among 262 people from 61 families. 

However, after water logged in Belonia Municipal council area many expressed resentment on the Municipal council and saod that despite repeatedly informing the concerned department, the authorities did not take any prompt action to fix the poor drainage system, which caused water lodged in Belonia and made many homeless after damaging properties.
