Belonia, Dec 18 (TIWN): District and Sessions Court, Belonia today sentenced one convicted to suffer life-term rigorous imprisonment (RI) and also imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for killing brother.
The convicted was identified as Dipankar Roy, resident of West Muhuripur under Belonia police station in South Tripura district.
According to the Court sources, three brothers- Dipankar Roy, Sankar Roy and Shibu Roy went their own farming land way back in May 03, 2013. In the middle of work, while Sankar was proceeding towards his house for breakfast, he had suddenly heard that younger brother Shibu was shouting.
Following the yell, Sankar came back to the farming land and seen that Sipankar was attacking Shibu by sharp cutting weapon. By that time, Dipankar had escaped from the place after hurting his younger brother brutally. As a result, Shibu was injured critically and died on the spot.
However, an FIR was lodged at Belonia police station in this regard (vide: Case No. 82/2013 dated 03-05-13 U/S 302 IPC ST. 77-ST/B 13 & PRC- 150/13). After completion of investigation, the Investigation Officer (IO) submitted the charge-sheet on October 31, 2013.
After conducting a long-period trial, the District and Sessions Court, Belonia today sentenced Dipankar Roy to suffer life-term rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for killing brother. Failing to pay the fine, he has to suffer one year more in the correctional home.
