AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): CPI-M activists on Monday were arrested by Police from a protest which was organized voicing against Crime Branch's raid in former CPI-M Minister Pabitra Kar's home.
A tussle with police developed during the arrest of the CPI-M members. Many senior citizens were arrested.
Reacting over the incident, Pabitra Kar said that to prevent opposition voices, the Govt is implementing curfews and putting people under Covid restrictions. He said, CPI-M will not stop with such actions.
He further asked, "When all the people will come on road, how many police can be deployed by Biplab deb ?"
SDPO Sadar Ramesh Yadav said, "Due to 144 no political gathering is allowed. As they have gathered, we have to detain them forcefully".
On being asked by the media about the recently held Mohanpur gathering led by Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, the SDPO said, Mohanpur is not his area.
