AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): Contraband items smuggling are getting more active in the state, there is no scene to curb these smuggling cases. Almost every day Police are seizing contraband items and detaining small scale traders but failed to arrest the main leaders, who are running the Emperor of drugs . On Friday based on secret information police led a raid in 2 Lorries and seized 1904 kg cannabis, which was kept hidden inside the vehicle.
Acting on a tip of Police of Mungiakami PS and CRPF battalion No. 61 conducted a joint operation and seized huge number of cannabis from 2 Lorries at 41-mile National Highway
The two detained Lorries registered number- PB10DZ9404 and NL08G4094, total 1904 cannabis were recovered from both the vehicles.
The massive quantity of cannabis was being taken to Siliguri from Agartala. In this smuggling connection a driver named Balwan Singh, resident of Punjab, was arrested and along with him police detained another 2 accused, and the arrested 3 are now in Police custody for further interrogation.
