AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): Denying allegations of being involved in Drug smuggling, 5-Khayerpur BJP Mandal President has said that he can say with a loud voice that BJP has no connection with such rackets. 

"A channel is alleging that we (BJP members) have a drug-nexus. With confidence we can say that we have no drug nexus. Our journalist brother can verify it. Please don't go through fake news", added a BJP Mandal leader while addressing a press meet at Agartala Press Club. 

"We have told police not to think before taking any action against drug-smugglers. We sent a notice to the channel but no reply came to us. Again the same channel is making news against us", alleged the BJP leader.

It can be mentioned here that the channel against which BJP held the press meet was shut down under Biplab Deb Govt in TV screens and now they have only a YouTube channel. Attacks on media have been record breaking in 3 years in this small state Tripura. 

BJP's nexus with drug-smuggling can not be denied in Tripura as many BJP workers were arrested by police or found in nexus. In 2019, drug-smugglers also killed a police official at Sonamura and the vehicle which was seized was of BJP leader's family but no action was taken. No progress is expected in that case till BJP is in power.
