AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): A massive theft was reported today from Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb’s constituency. The house owner Uttam Majumder and his family members went outside the state a few days back for treatment purposes. Taking advantage, a gang of thieves broke the lock and entered his house in the Shivnagar Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Club area of Banamalipur and looted valuable items. Uttam’s close relatives came to check the house today and seeing the theft they informed the East Police Station.

Such daring thefts are being reported every day from different corners of the state but the role of the police administration in such cases is raising questions among the general public. With the law and order diminishing in the state and the negative role of Tripura police crimes and corruption has reached their peak. Despite night patrolling, and strict vigilance of the police, the number of thefts, burglaries, house attacks, molestation, and drug abuse has taken a fair shape.

Essential objects were stolen repeatedly from the well-known schools and colleges located in the heart of the city amid the curfew, over 60 houses reported theft in the last month but hardly any of the culprits could be caught despite CCTV footages were recovered in some cases but the only job the administration took seriously is to collect fines from the common public, and making unnecessary harassments for a bribe in the middle of the road.

Besides, with CCTV camera footage playing a crucial role in solving crimes, the Govt.’s installed CCTV cameras remain useless in this case.
