AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): Drug business is rampantly increasing in the state, two youths arrested for being involved with drug trade. Two drug dealers caught by locals with drug paraphernalia in the Indranagar Kalibari area today. The locals claimed that the two peddlers, one of them named Subho Mitra was running the drug trade for a long time. The police caught them several times and released them without taking any stern action. The duo is also indulged in theft cases in the area, they said.

A local said since a long time the two youths have been involved with the drug trade but due to residents of same area, the local guardian released them every time. However, out of angst today the locals caught the two youths and handed them over to the police.  Empty container including a cash amount was recovered from the two. The locals said behind this drug trade there is kingpin who is running the “paradise of Drugs”  However, police arrested the two and started an investigation.

After a similar theft today, the area people raided Subho's house and recovered a fair amount of cash and empty drug containers from his home. Being informed the police went to the spot and arrested them.     

However, in the last few years, with the law and order diminishing in the state, Tripura has become a major hub for illicit drug trade. Besieged by illegal drugs, fears of gang violence and muggings keep frightened residents at home.

Even at home, citizens feel insecure, for drug-related break-ins and burglaries threaten. Open dealing on the street stirs the community's fears for its children. The police administration is though playing a vital role in collecting fines for masks and helmets on the road is lagging to control such crimes.
