AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): A press conference organized by Tripura Bidyut Karmi Union at Melamath Samonvay Bhaban today with 9-point demand.

Their demands include,

• The power sector should not be privatized. The 5 divisions of State Power Corporation which are being handed over to private companies will have to be brought back under the Corporation.
• The fixed-pay helpers hired by the power corporation in 2015 with the permission of the state finance department should be paid a regular salary scale immediately.
• Irregular employees including the DRW in the corporation should be regularized.
• To maintain an uninterrupted power supply throughout the state to prevent misery necessary renovation of power sub-stations including line repairs should be done immediately.
• Adequate equipment of appropriate quality should be provided to the store immediately.
• To stop customer harassment, appropriate action needs to be taken quickly to rectify fake bills.
• The family members of the deceased workers who died in the workplace while working for the corporation have to be given government employment.
• Appropriate security measures must be taken to prevent office attacks and daily attacks on employees at different levels of the corporation in the workplace.
• To keep the power system of the corporation intact, the props arrears of various agencies should be settled immediately. The normal functioning of the corporation must be restored.
