AGARTALA, June 12 (TIWN): In the diamond era although there are a few capital-based developments, a slightly different picture emerges across the state, a little away from the capital. Roads in rural areas of the state become impassable during light rains. Such a picture was captured in Ward No. 6 of Baidyar Dighi Gram Panchayat under Bishalgarh RD Block.
This is a picture of road No. 2 Chandranagar village located just 2 kilometers away from the main town of Bishalgarh and just 22 kilometers away from the capital.
For the last seven years, the road from Chandanagar No. 2 in Ward No. 6 of Baidyar Dighi Gram Panchayat under Bishalgarh RD Block to Ashram Road has been in a dilapidated condition. Every day 300 families travel through this road.
Even after a few splashes of rain, the road becomes muddy. Bikes and cars cannot pass through it and the people face difficulties to walk on. Locals have repeatedly complained to the leaders of various political parties, starting from the people's representatives of the area, but nothing has been done.
Talking to the Dighi Gram Panchayat about this, the panchayat informed them that the tender has been issued and the work will start in a few days. The story of this tender has been heard by the people for the last seven years. But in reality, there was no reflection of it.
Before winning the election the present Govt. made several tall promises to the public but the misery of the common people remains the same.
