AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress joined the nationwide protest against the fuel price hike today before the Agartala Pradesh Congress Bhavan.
Addressing the press the state Youth Congress President, Pujan Biswas said, “Over the past one year, fuel prices have skyrocketed with petrol currently selling at Rs 100 a liter in metropolitan cities and at Rs. 96 in our state while diesel is at Rs 89.35 per liter.
The price of LPG cylinders has also increased. Amid the pandemic, the government is increasing the prices of essential commodities unnecessarily making it difficult for the general public. The international crude oil prices have also come down now and if it wanted, the government could bring down the petrol price at Rs. 60 per liter. Besides, the center should also lift the GST for the essential items like medicines during this pandemic as a fair population in our country are facing a huge loss now.”
