AGARTALA, June 4 (TIWN): JMC 10323 teachers observed Black Day losing their colleagues Litan Nama, and Navin Debbarma within 24 hours taking the death toll to 101. The JMC gathered before Shiksha Bhavan putting on Black masks to protest the inhuman role of the state government.
After Litan Nama succumbed to COVID 19, another UG teacher namedNavin Debbarma of Bishramganj died of a heart attack. With 101 deaths, 101 families left devasted while Biplab Deb continues to play the role of Mirzafar with 10,323 teachers. Before the 2018 assembly election, the BJP displayed a laminated brochure calling it the “vision document” where the party promised to save the 10323 teachers’ jobs. But in reality, their vision document turned out as banana leaf.
“After losing their job, most of the teachers died due to lack of treatment. Several committed suicides over debt. Few of them started selling tea, vegetables on the streets to survive. And now amid the curfew imposed due to the pandemic, we are in a severe crisis. These 101 families' responsibility has to be taken by the State Govt only. It must take initiative to recruit us.”
"We are not against unemployed youths. Tripura govt should recruit them in 50,000 posts and for us, the already interviewed recruitment process in 13,000 posts should be resumed by a cabinet decision. The government can’t stop us to protest this time. And if it fails to listen to us we will be forced to take on the streets ones again. It is better for us to die in police firing than to die of starvation and as the death toll rises our movement is getting stronger and we are not moving backward", said JMC leader Dalia Das.
