AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): With few splashes of rainwater National Highway submerged under water on Tuesday at Charilam Bazar.
The NH at Charilam Bazar is in dilapidated condition for a long time, and even after repeatedly requesting to repair the NH the authority of National Road Construction remains silent. Locals claimed that the drains on both sides of the National Highway have not been cleaned for a long time, resulting water logging after few splashes of rain. Many times the locals have been asked to National Road Construction Authorities to clean the drains and to repair the road but nothing has been done.
Bandhan Bank, State Co-operative Bank, Satsang Ashram and two idol making shops are there in this area but when it rains the road is submerged under water and the bank customers, pedestrians face difficulties to move freely in the area. With several potholes the National Highway has become damaged and it is alleged it takes 2-3 hours to remove logged water from the area.
The local people now demand the National Road Construction Authority should immediately clean the drains in the area and to repair the National Highway road immediately. And if the NH road would not be reconstructed then the local people, pedestrians, vehicle riders would face difficulties to move freely on the road. Now it remains to be seen whether the concerned department would repair the roads or not.
