AGARTALA, May 30 (TIWN): 70 year old woman died in Agartala GB hospital general ward but the body was handed over to the family before giving the Covid test report. Later the family was informed the deceased woman was positive but while the dead body was taken to crematorium, locals obstructed, incident in Ambassa Dolubari area.
It is known that a 70-year-old woman resident of Dolubari area of Ambasa sub-division had suffered from a heart attack a few days ago. The woman was taken to Dhalai District Hospital after suffering a heart attack and later noticing her deteriorating health condition she was shifted to Agartala GB Hospital. On Saturday late night the old woman died in the general ward, according to the family members, and before his death his swab was collected for Covid test. But before the report came the body was handed over to the deceased family.
As usual, the dead body reached Dulubari on Sunday morning at Durgesh Das Smriti Crematorium for cremation, the family was informed the deceased woman was Covid positive. As soon as this news spread, the local women of the area started obstructing the cremation of the dead body. The local women said that cremation cannot be done here as there would be high risk of spreading Covid if the dead body cremated here.
Centering this chaos generated in the area, on receiving news a large police force including Ambasa SDPO rushed to the spot and after five hours of long wait, the body was cremated in the initiative of the administration.
