Allegation of looting govt assets against a govt employee, working as work assistant under RD department

AGARTALA, May 17(TIWN): Local people caught govt assets red-handed, while unloading government cements and rods in a govt employee house, for the construction of his own house. The incident took place on Monday in Haripur area under Rishyamukh block.

There is no dissimilarity between Hira and Left era, govt employees of various govt. departments are looting govt assets in full swing. It is known, Apu Vaidya, a govt employee working as Work Assistant under Rural Development Department in Santirbazar looted government cement and rods to construct his own house at Haripur area under Rishyamukh block,  allegedly.

It is alleged, the locals have been observing these looting govt assets for a long time but the local people are not getting a chance to catch, Apu red-handed. Later, on Monday in broad daylight while unloading cement and rods from two vehicles in front of Apu Baidya’s house, at that moment local villagers apprehended the two vehicles and questioned the drivers. After questioning the drivers, they informed that the cement and rods were brought from Shantir Bazaar, Bogafa store room.

Later, after getting informed the police reached to the spot and seized the two vehicles loaded with cement and rods. Almost 200-250 cement bags were seized from the spot and also many empty cement bags were seen in Apu Baidya’s house with a seal “Not for sale”, which shows many govt cements have already been used in constructing his house. Also, the drivers could not show any valid documents on being asked to show valid documents in this regard. It was noticed that in all the cement sacks it has seal “not for sale” which means it all was for government supply.

During the incident Apu Baidya was not present at his home.

Local people demanded punishment and proper investigation should be done into the construction of houses, responding to such government asset loot of a govt employee.
